Bob Ward Sentenced For Wife's Murder

WESH - Orlando, FL

ORLANDO, Fla. -- An Isleworth millionaire convicted of second-degree murder in the death of his wife was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday.

Ward, 64, faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison. The state asked for a life sentence. The judge in the case said that the sentence she imposed was not influenced by Ward's wealth.

I don't think he was really trying to commit suicide or he would have taken the entire bottle, not just 20. What would 20 do to you? I have taken as many as 6 at one time to try to relieve a migraine headache when taking 2 didn't do any good. They didn't even make me sleepy.

He should have chased them down with a bottle of Scotch or some other hard liquor...That would have given him kidney failure along with a horrible hangover, should he survive...I just don't understand where he got his hands on that much Ibuprofen if he was incarcerated...Wonder if we wil ever know???

He bought it from the jail’s commissary according to ABC News.

I know there are some sleuthers out there that can find out if that is the case...I'll check out the commissary items available here in Pinellas County, but don't think that it could be purchased here...Perhaps Orange County is different...If so then I'll admit I was wrong...

OK, I admit it...I was wrong...Inmates in Pinellas county can order Ibuprofen and also Tylenol...They are available in packets of 2 tablets @ pack...I don't know if there is a limit to the number of packs that one can purchase at a time, but bet if there isn't there will be one soon....

The bottle of ibuprofen we have says not to exceed 6 tablets in a 24 hour period, so it might be a good idea to limit set a limit of three 2-packs at a time for the inmates.

Bob Ward: Millionaire heads to state prison for killing wife

James Robert "Bob" Ward, the ex-developer recently convicted of killing his wife inside their Isleworth mansion, entered the state prison system Tuesday.

Ward, 63, was transferred from Orange County Jail custody at 7:10 a.m. to the state's Central Florida Reception Center.

The CFRC is a Florida Department of Corrections' facility in Orange County used to house inmates before they are taken to their assigned prison.

Estee, regarding Bob Ward and the Orange County Jail, Orlando, FL, the following is snipped from the above Orlando Sentinel article (posted by Ann-Tx Tue Dec 20, 2011 8:51 pm):

Orange County Jail inmates can buy Ibuprofen in two-tablet doses, which are individually packaged. An inmate can only order 20, two-table packages within a 21-day period.

Thanks Ann...I just finished reading the article before I read your comment above...There has to be some way to limit the purchases even more...Or perhaps have the tabs doled out and recorded as to how mwny each inmate takes...When I worked at a facility for mentally handicapped individuals I had to "pass meds"...We had a locked room where the meds were locked up and a pass thru window where the individual would walk up and I would give them their prescribed meds and watch then take them...As each dose was distributed it was noted on a chart...We had a great system of checks and balances...That way it eliminated ODs...The residents were not allowed to have meds in their rooms...If an unscheduled med was administered ie; Tylenol, Aspirin, etc..the allergy list was checked first and date, time and reason administered was noted...
