New Book by Andrea Lyon

Angel of Death Row: My Life as a Death Penalty Defense Lawyer by Andrea Lyon was released today.

I had no idea she had a book coming out. I don't see myself reading this one. I have a feeling that there might be a sequel in the future with the title Angel of Death Row: So I Lost One, What's the Big Deal?

The Promo and release of this book was one of the reasons the defense was draging it's feet on preparation for the trial....Remember Andrea's prior commitments???

It's all $$$ from this case, it's just her piece of it. Sad..
I would never want to read it either. '

Ok, I just read the excerpt from the book. I'm not impressed. I wonder what she thought when she met Casey.

A better title: My Angles for Avoiding Death Row - My Angles to Defeat Justice

That title definitely fits Cali.

It figures that the excerpt uses an example from when one of her clients was actually innocent. I think most of our problems with AL stem from her getting guilty people off the hook.

That's the biggest problem I have with AL..... keeping her clients who have viciously murdered an innocent soul from get what is due them.....

I'm lovin' the new book titles, you all are so funny! I read the excerpt, and you're right. She's promoting the book with one truly innocent client. And a mother accused of murdering her child....ah hem. Boy, that sure would bring attention to her book at this time, wouldn't it? I think she had many motives to become involved in Casey's case. She knows Casey is guilty of murdering her child.

It seemed to me that was more detective work than an attorney. The babysitter gave up the truth as soon as she was approached. And the young girl probably would have broke down if anyone started to question her, JMO.

She skimmed over the innocent man that sat in prison for 26 years. She wrote that off to "that's my job, I am the keeper of dirty secrets." What about that innocent man's life? Surely, there was something that could have been done to free that man. This innocent man probably would have died in prison had the real killer not died. I consider that a death penalty, he was robbed of his life. And she had the answer to free him.

How could you sleep at night knowing that?

This is just me, but I really want to read the book, but I will never pay money to read it. I will wait five years if I have to, to get one from my beloved library.

That's Pat...rather androgenous....Sounds like a good name for a TV series...That will probably be next...after all the "Bones" lady is one of their experts...can't wait to hear from HER....

Does she have children now, does anyone know?

Piper, I was wondering that myself as I read the excerpt.... and in the deep recesses of my brain, it seems like I remember AL herself saying something about being a mother, but I can't place when that might have been. I want to say it was at the last hearing, but I just can't remember for sure..... too much has happened in this case over such a long period of time.

Maybe someone else will have some idea as to whether or not I am remembering correctly.
