Casey's Defense Wants Focus To Stay On Kronk

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- New motions in the case against Casey Anthony show the defense is still trying to pin Caylee's murder on former meter reader Roy Kronk, who found her remains on December 11 in a wooded area near the Anthony family home.

MOTIONS: Kronk's Ex | Modify Order | To Compel

The defense wants to depose one of his ex-wives, who claims Kronk bound her with duct tape more than once while they were married. Caylee's body was found with duct tape over her mouth.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in the case are once again requesting that Casey's lawyers disclose the witnesses they plan to call and begin questioning the investigators in the case.

Both sides are aiming for a trial in the summer of 2010.

Poor Roy...He tried to do the right thing and he's being lambasted and blamed by the defense...I don't know how C&G feel about him , but they should be thankful that he found Caylee's remains so they could have some closure. At least now they know where Caylee is and Casey too.

These don't actually appear to be "new" defense motions.... they are dated back in November of last year. The State's Second Motion to Compel is dated Dec. 2009.

So I am not sure where WFTV gets that there were "new" motions filed by the defense, unless there are some that they have yet to post.

BTW...... the State's Second Motion to Compel is a beautiful work of art!!! I love LDB!!!!

The defense's motion comes right out and says "Mr. Kronk should be a suspect in this case." If the allegations against Kronk are not true, I think he should try to sue his ex-wives and the defense for defamation. It isn't Bozo's job to decide who should be a suspect. The Perry Mason wannabe needs to focus on meeting the court's deadlines for witness lists, depositions, and motions.

In the motion filed by the state it is evident that Casey's defense counsel feels they are above the law. Florida law requires the defense to provide names and addresses of all witnesses, but the defense continually files motions with new witnesses and refuses to provide their addresses to the state. When the state inquired about a list of witness names and addresses that should have been filed with the motions involving Roy Kronk and Texas Equusearch, they received an email from Andrea Lyon saying that the "potential witnesses should be obvious from the filing." Baez then sent the state the names of the witnesses, and listed their lawyers under their contact information. When the state made a specific request for a formal witness list with current addresses, they were advised that the defense feels they have no "further obligation to file anything" and "the witnesses do not want the media harassing them in the meantime."

It is obvious that the defense is trying to stall and are being uncooperative when it comes to meeting the basic requirements of Florida law. I hope Judge Strickland admonishes them and threatens them with contempt if they don't start cooperating.

its pretty sad when the ones that are not cooperating (the defense) is constantly whining that the prosecution will not hand over discovery... what is that saying about the pot and the kettle?? LMAO..

from MY experience .. ex wives (or husbands) for that matter NEVER make good character witnesses,... in most cases, if their wasnt bad blood, they WOULDNT be divorced.. there is always a bone to pick with an ex.. i think her testimony will be deemed to predjudical, and not exculpatory.

AND.. did she ever report these alleged "duct tape instances" to the police?? IF they were never reported, and not backed up by documentation, it is simply he said she said, and i dont think that the testimony will be allowed, unless the state opens the door. what happened between kronk and his ex has no bearing whatsoever on caylee lying dead in the woods.

randilynn....I hope Kronk's ex-wife gets what she deserves...a jail sentence for false testimony. wonder how much she was paid for her 'tall tail tale".

Doesn't Kronk's ex-wife have cancer? They was to do a deposition with her via video, as she can't travel to Orlando. Where does she live? She must be burning up the phone lines to the 'defense's Big Top' as they seem to have lots of info from her.
