Orange County Medical Examiner To Answer Attorney's Questions
POSTED: 5:48 am EDT September 28, 2010
UPDATED: 7:11 am EDT September 28, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orange County's chief medical examiner, Dr. Jan Garavaglia, will be questioned under oath by Casey Anthony's defense team on Tuesday morning.
Dr. G, as she is known in Orlando and on her nationally-televised show, ruled Caylee Anthony's death a homicide.
Anthony's defense team is questioning Garavaglia's credibility because she never gave an exact cause of death. Garavaglia ruled, through tests and evidence, that Caylee's death was a homicide of "unknown origin."

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Orange County medical examiner, who performed an autopsy on Caylee Anthony, is answering questions under oath Tuesday. The defense was deposing three workers at the Orange County Medical Examiners' headquarters.
VIDEO REPORT:Dr. G Faces Casey's Attorneys
~ Snipped ~
The autopsy report, released the next year, showed that investigators found three pieces of duct tape layered over Caylee's face, still stuck to her brown hair.
The medical examiner concluded that Caylee's remains were placed in the woods shortly after death, partly because plants had grown through her remains, indicating Caylee's body was put there months earlier.
The defense has questioned the placement of the duct tape in the past and now they want to do their own DNA tests on Caylee's shorts and the laundry bag found with her remains.
WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer says that probably indicates the defense is trying to find evidence of possible sexual abuse and evidence of another killer other than Caylee's mother, Casey.

I'm sorry, but I honestly do not think those two could be MORE rude to Kathi... they both are completely unprofessional IMO.
JB either completely ignores her, yet he will answer the Spanish-speaking reporter.... or he gives her some smart-mouthed response.
That last comment on the second video, when CM is leaving, "Kathi, you'll just have to wait for trial to find out the truth," or something to that effect is just so way beyond asinine. Most of us that have been reading all the discovery have a pretty good idea what the "truth" is..... let's see what "truth" they come up with at trial.
I should have known not to watch those stupid, stupid men!

Baez is almost always rude to people who ask him questions that shoot down his crazy theories of Casey being innocent. Maybe he is so defensive because deep down he knows he is wrong for representing an obviously guilty baby killer.

Could Dr. G’s ruling help the defense?

The defense team for Casey Anthony seemed happy with its deposition today of medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia — television’s highly regarded Dr. G.
“The defense left this afternoon saying they’d gotten what they needed and didn’t answer any of our questions,” WOFL-Ch. 35’s Holly Bristow said.
WESH-Ch. 2’s Bob Kealing said the defense told him afterward, “They’re satisfied that Garavaglia’s deposition confirmed what they’ve said all along, that she can’t help the state make the case for murder because they say she doesn’t know how Caylee died.”
Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. Garavaglia ruled that the toddler died of homicide by unknown origins.
“What does it mean? That means nothing, does it? She doesn’t know why the child died or how,” defense attorney Cheney Mason told WOFL-Ch. 35 before the deposition.

What the defense would have us believe is if there is no eyewitness to a murder and there isn't any DNA because the body isn't found until it's skeltonized, then nobody should ever be charged with the crime regardless of what the circumstantial evidence shows.

Big Name Depositions Scheduled In Anthony Case
POSTED: 4:41 pm EDT October 20, 2010
UPDATED: 5:20 pm EDT October 20, 2010
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A number of high profile depositions will take place next week in the case against Casey Anthony.
Those to be deposed include Anthony’s ex-fiance, Jesse Grund, and the son of the former meter reader who discovered Caylee Anthony’s remains.
Judge Belvin Perry has set a series of deadlines for depositions in the case to take place, which is why more are now being scheduled.
Court documents indicate three of the depositions are scheduled for Tuesday, including Anthony’s former fiancée, Grund, his father, Richard Grund, and Orange County Corrections Officer Sylvia Hernandez. Hernandez was fired after allowing Anthony to exchange secret letters with a jailhouse pen pal.
On Wednesday, defense attorneys will depose lead detective Yuri Melich. He previously testified in court that Anthony’s car had the strong odor of a decomposing body.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- WFTV is working to find out why two defense depositions that were scheduled for Tuesday morning in the case against Casey Anthony were suddenly cancelled.
WFTV had reported that Casey's former fiancé Jesse Grund and his father Richard were both set to be deposed.
However, late Monday night that hearing was cancelled.
Casey and her family had previously tried to cast suspicion on Jesse Grund as someone who could have abducted Caylee.

Corrections Officer To Give Sworn Testimony Today
POSTED: 7:11 am EDT October 26, 2010
UPDATED: 10:35 am EDT October 26, 2010

An Orange County corrections officer, Sylvia Hernandez, was expected to give sworn testimony in the Anthony case.
Hernandez was fired for allowing Anthony to exchange secret letters with another inmate.
The letters, which were sent between Anthony and fellow inmate Robyn Adams, were released as evidence by the state earlier this year.
In an investigative summary, investigators wrote that Adams discussed the topic of Zenaida Gonzalez with Anthony. Anthony has told authorities Gonzalez kidnapped Caylee.
In conversations with investigators, Adams claimed Anthony made two references to Gonzalez. The first indicated "there was no Zenaida" and "Zenaida didn't do this." The second reference claimed Gonzalez was a childhood friend.
Investigators said Adams also told them that Anthony would give Caylee "stuff" to make her sleep.
Anthony and Adams discussed chloroform, and Anthony told Adams she would give the toddler "antihistamines or something" because she had difficulties getting her to take naps.

Lead detective in Anthony case to be deposed by defense

Published : Wednesday, 27 Oct 2010, 8:27 AM EDT
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - One of the main figures in the case against Casey Anthony is set to be grilled by the defense Wednesday.
Casey Anthony stands accused of murdering her daughter in 2008. The lead detective from the Orange County Sheriffs office, Corporal Yuri Melich, will be deposed by the defense team. The defense contends that from the beginning Melich has pegged Casey Anthony as the sole suspect.
The defense says there is no evidence to back up the detectives claim.
Melich has been questioned by the defense before; the last time he was deposed he was questioned about a discovery related to cell phone records of a potential witness.
Thursday the subject of the questioning will be if Melich has considered anyone else but Casey Anthony as a suspect in the murder.

No evidence? Members of the defense team make ludicrous statements like that, and then they wonder why they get mocked and are given names such as Bozo and Foghorn.

I always thought that the last person to see the victim alive was the numero uno suspect...And wouldn't that make Casey said suspect??? Even IF the story about her dropping her off at the apartment stairs was true, she never said Zanny was there to take Caylee inside...Come on now...we all can surmise that Casey did the deed, accident or not..I hope Melich tears Bozo a new one over this...and twists it while he's at it...Little Witchy Poo

Casey's Lawyers Depose Lead FBI Agent On Case
Posted: 11:06 am EDT October 28, 2010
Updated: 11:16 am EDT October 28, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's lawyers are deposing the lead FBI agent on the case Thursday, Special Agent Nick Savage. Savage and other federal agents were called in to investigate the out-of-state leads.
Former meter reader Roy Kronk's son was to be deposed Thursday as well, but court records show Brandon Sparks is not cooperating. Sparks claims Kronk, who found Caylee's remains, appeared to have inside information.
On Friday, Judge Belvin Perry will again hear arguments on whether to seal some of Casey Anthony's jail records. The new argument is based on a recent appeals court ruling.
However, prosecutors say the ruling isn't relevant in the case, because it applies to personal phone calls and not phone, visitation and jail account records.
Meanwhile, one of Casey's defense witnesses, who is under investigation for allegedly falsifying records, has a new lawyer. Texas EquuSearch volunteer Laura Buchanan has hired a Fort Lauderdale attorney.
Buchanan is accused of trying to help Casey by falsifying search records to make it appear that Caylee's body was not in the woods three months before she was found there.
