Drew Peterson’s son fired from Oak Brook force

The Oak Brook Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously Saturday to fire Officer Stephen Peterson from the Oak Brook Police Department, effective immediately.

Following a brief session by the board, Chairman Fred Cappetta read a prepared statement announcing the board had found Peterson guilty of failing to disclose facts to law enforcement officials in connection with the disappearance of his stepmother, Stacy Peterson. His father is former Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson.

Upon hearing the news, Peterson and his attorney Tamara Cummings left the boardroom disappointed.

“We’re not surprised because (the board) has been hesitant in the past to go against the chief,” Cummings said. “We hoped they would do the right thing.”

Peterson angry over son’s firing

Stephen Peterson accepted three weapons and a transfer of $236,800 from his father on Oct. 30, three days after Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

“I am very angry that the police and fire board of Oak Brook are in the police chief’s pocket and that they can’t make a fair decision on their own,” said Peterson, who commented via his attorney, Joel Brodsky.

Peterson’s comments were e-mailed by Brodsky to The Herald-News. The former Bolingbrook police sergeant is being held at the Will County Jail while awaiting trial on charges he murdered his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

“When I gave Steve my guns there was no investigation to impede,” Peterson said. “They were my favorite guns, and I was going to give them to Steve when I retired anyway. I only gave him three of the dozen or so guns I owned, and I kept most of my guns in my house and the police confiscated them all, so how could giving him those three guns impede anything?”

Drew Peterson Writing Love Letters to Woman from Jail: Report

"I have a closet full of new or like-new clothes Stacy left behind when she abandoned us, everything from formal dresses to sweats to bikinis," Peterson wrote in another, according to the (National Enquirer). Of course the Stacy he wrote about is Stacy Peterson, Drew's fourth wife.

Stacy Peterson disappeared nearly two and a half years ago and hasn't been seen since.

Grandel said the last letter about Stacy's clothing was more than she could handle. She told the Enquirer that was when she realized Drew Peterson was likely guilty of murdering his ex-wife.

On Saturday, the first of October, people will gather all over the country for the beginning of National Domestic Awareness Month. For the third year the Guardian Angels Community Service agency’s domestic violence program, Groundwork, has organized a 5k walk to honor the victims of violence, bring awareness to the community, and to raise funds for their programs.

Team Missing Stacy Peterson will be walking again this year to remind the Chicago and the nation that the lives of those in violent situations matter.

A group devoted to keeping the case of missing Bolingbrook mother Stacy Peterson in the public eye is participating in a fundraising walk in Shorewood Saturday.

Team Stacy Peterson is taking part in Groundwork's 5K walk to honor victims of violence, bring awareness to the community, and raise funds to continue its programs.
