It shows Abigail Young's home . . . the home Emma Thompson was brutally raped, beaten and abused in!

Why is this guy not charged with murdering Emma?

A few weeks ago someone, on The Hinky Meter, asked me about the Emma Thompson case. I know some folks that read at Val's that were following Emma's case during Young's trial.

I started a new thread and wrote an intro regarding the Emma Thompson Case on Reality Chatter (RC) with various Links posted regarding this case and Links from the Abigail Young (Emma's mother) trial which concluded mid July, 2010. There are videos from Young's trial posted and the Victim's Impact Statement Raw Video is posted.

Only Emma's father, Ben Thompson, and paternal grandmother, Laurie Thompson, spoke on behalf of Emma Thompson.

Sadly, Emma's maternal grandmother, Margie Routt Young, supported her daughter, Abigail Young, and testified for the Defense.

Routt Young did not speak on behalf of her granddaugher, Emma, during the Victim's Impact Statement – Emma Thompson.

I have a very personal interest in this case and I do plan on attending a few days of Lucas Coe's trial. I will keep the thread updated at RC during the trial.

Yes, Estee, I will attend a few days of Lucas Coe's trial. I don't know if I'll be able to stand to be in the same air space as Coe! Yuk! Since I watch and will record our local news, I will be able to give updates before the clips are posted on the TV stations website some of the time. During Young's trial all of the videos were not posted. Just brief clips.

I've rearranged my schedule and I hope to attend at least 3 days of the trial, definitely the first day. I want to hear the opening arguments. Downtown Houston is about 70 to 72 miles from me (depending which way I go). I'll have to fight the rush hour traffic and it is a monster traffic jam! LOL If I could get 2 things rescheduled, I will attend more than 3 days. Coe . . . this is the big perp!

I would like to get a hotel room downtown but because of my husband's health issues, I know I can not be gone 3 days/nights in a row. It would be like a vacation - the hotel room and not have to be concerned about cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Emma died 6-27-09 and Coe's trial is 9-13-10. This is a much more brutal case than Casey's and she still has not gone to trial! Florida needs to take lessons from Texas! Anyway, 9-13-10 is the day I have been waiting for. ~~~ Justice for precious Emma! ~~~

The reason Abigail Young got 20 years which was the maximum allowed for the lesser charge is because she was not found guilty of the first degree felony. Had she been found guilty of the first degree felony, her maximum sentence would have been Life in Prison without Parole.

The State of Texas ( Harris County District Attorney Prosecutors) was seeking Life without Parole and a first degree felony conviction.
They were disappointed that the jury did not find Young guilty of the felony but respected their verdict and was hoping during the Punishment Phase (which was the next day) that the jury would give Young 20 years, the maximum allowed.

The sad part is Young will be eligible for parole in 5 years (good behavior). Emma's dad vowed to be at every parole hearing to speak against Young. Did you see the Victim's Impact Statement video? I think Julie posted it upthread.

In the wee hours of this morning, I posted a video from YouTube where Katie McCall (local TV reporter) explained Young's sentence towards the end of the video. I posted 3 videos (one after another).

Yes, there are a lot of angry people, especially in Washington County where I live. This one reminds me of Casey Anthony during one of her jail visits with the Ants!

Julie, thank you for looking. It was posted on KHOU (Ch 11), Houston, Tx. Also, they did an exclusive interview with Abigail Young, in the court house (justice center) after she was released on bond. Both of her attorneys were on either side of her. What an interview! It outraged everybody I know!

I have the Link but when I click on it, a blank page comes up with KHOU Logo and says it is no longer available. I really want to post the video. I think I'll call KHOU and inquire about it. I would think they did not destroy it. Maybe they'll post it again. It is worth a try. Holiday week-end . . . . will probably have to wait until Tuesday. A skeleton crew usually works during holidays!

If you search archives, the interview took place in August. I'll have to check the exact date. I think it was on 8-12-09 or maybe 8-13-09.

Also, nearly all Houston TV stations covered the Vigil. Some stations had clips; others had lengthy videos of the Vigil (not in its entirety though). None are available now.

KHOU had an awesome slide show of Emma! That is not available either. Luckily, I found one on KPRC (Ch 2) an NBC station in Houston.

Do you think some of these videos could be on YouTube or some other video service?

I know if they are out there, my great teacher, Julie, can find them!

The exclusive interview with Abigail Young and KHOU- Ch 11 - Houston, Tx was on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. It was after her hearing and she was released on bail.

Ann - All I could find are some old articles, with a video screen that doesn't play the video, so I guess they have been removed. I also checked youtube again....nothing. I also Googled for the video...nothing.

I have the Links you posted but I am glad you posted those because it would be helpful to someone who is not familiar with Emma's case or if someone forgot some of the details in the case.

I will call KHOU and see if I can get a "copy" of their exclusive interview with Young. I just thought media websites kept articles and videos forever! I should have got my nephew to copy it to a Flash Drive and then I would have it. Live and learn!
