"I think it's weird. What's weird about it, that's she's missing and nobody is looking for her," said Gail Scott.

Scott lives in the apartment right next to Sharika Dickens where she lived with her 9 month old named Lauryn. Dickens reported Lauryn missing on at the end of last week.

She told Memphis Police that on September 7 she willingly handed the baby over to a woman that she didn't know.

She told police she gave the woman the baby because the woman said she was a friend of the child's father. Memphis police say they checked that story.

And the child's father is in behind bars and denies having anything to do with the disappearances. Police say they have not proved any of Shakira Dickens story to be true.

Memphis Father of Missing 10-Month Baby May Know Her Whereabouts

MEMPHIS, TN -- Memphis police said the father of 10-month old Lauryn Dickens may know where she is. The baby has been missing since September 7th. Investigators issued a "City Watch Alert" Friday, September 17 for 10-month-old Lauryn Dickens, who was last seen wearing a brown onesie with a pink flower and pink dots.

Police are questioning family members, friends, and neighbors for clues about where the baby could be.

It's been two weeks since Lauryn Dickens has been missing. But her mother, Shakara Dickens, waited 10 days to report her daughter missing, after she gave her baby to a complete stranger. Police said their number one concern is the safety of that baby and time may be running out.

Mother of missing baby jailed; apartment searched

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Action News 5 was the only station on the scene as a police cadaver dog hit on a scent Tuesday afternoon inside an apartment in the Raleigh Village complex on Yale Road where nine-month-old Lauryn Dickens was reported missing by her mother late last week.

Memphis police officers have charged Shakara Dickens, 19, with aggravated child neglect and endangerment and false reporting in connection with the disappearance of her 9-month-old daughter, Lauryn Dickens.

The young girl remains missing, however, more than two weeks after she disappeared.

MEMPHIS, TN— The mother of a missing baby remains in jail on $2 million bond.

Shakara Dickens made her first court appearance Friday, September 24, 2010 on charges of aggravated child abuse and filing a false report.

Ten-month-old Lauryn Dickens was last seen alive on Labor Day. Nine days later she was reported missing to police. Dickens told police she gave the baby to an unknown white woman.

Remains Detected In Missing Child's Home; Mother Charged

According to the document, a FEMA dog trained to detect the odor of decomposing human remains, detected that scent at the apartment. No human remains were found. The apartment is the last place police say little Lauryn was seen alive.

News Channel 3 was on scene Tuesday as investigators pulled a car seat and walker from the apartment. The warrant says they also found a Winnie the Pooh blanket, white shirt and cell phones. Thursday, police searched the home and car of Shakara Dicken's mother, a 4th grade Memphis City School teacher. They haven't said what was found there, but we've been told the car is still in police custody.

Police say Shakara Dickens has given them conflicting stories. She filed a missing persons report with police on the 15th of September. She told them she gave her child to a woman a she didn't know on the 7th of September

Mother Charged in 9-Month Old’s Disappearance

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Police still don't know what happened to little Lauryn Dickens but a Memphis judge is sure her mother had something to do with it. He sent the case to the grand jury Wednesday.

Shakara Dickens is charged with aggravated child neglect and endangerment as well as false reporting. Her daughter has been missing since September.

After hearing testimony from police and the child's father, the judge decided it was enough to move the case forward.

19-year old Shakara Dickens looked and listened to testimony about what happened the day that 9-month old Lauryn Dickens was reported missing.

Lauryn disappeared September 7th, but her mother didn't file a missing person's report until September 15th. Memphis Police Officer Donna Boykin testified about the day Dickens walked into the Old Allen Station and reported giving her child to a stranger.

Trial set for Memphis mother accused of killing infant daughter

A November trial date was set this morning for a mother charged with killing her baby daughter who has not been seen since last September.

Shakara Dickens, 20, told police she had turned over her 10-month-old daughter Lauryn to an unknown woman, but the report was false, authorities said.

The Shakara Dickens trial is scheduled for 11-7-11 per Criminal Court Docket in Shelby County, TN.

For those who have followed this case, you know there has been limited media coverage locally and on a national level.

Shakara Davis is suppose to go to trial on 11-7-11.

I did a search of the Court Docket for Division 03 - Criminal and she is still listed. There have been no recent main stream media articles regarding her trial.

I hope the TN media will cover this trial!
