Tomorrow marks two years of investigative efforts into the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings. During the early morning hours of February 10, 2009, Haleigh Cummings was reported missing from her residence in Satsuma. Sheriff Hardy’s interest in the public’s desire to bring Haleigh home, have led him to release the following update on the investigation.

Investigators are renewing their call for information about the disappearance of HaLeigh Cummings, the 5-year-old girl who disappeared from her Satsuma home two years ago.

"It's been clear from day one that the contradicting statements from the family members are not the truth," said Capt. Johnny Greenwood, spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

A vigil will be held today in the child's honor.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Two years ago Thursday, a 911 call was placed to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office saying 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings had vanished.

Family and friends of the girl who disappeared from her Satsuma home in February 2009 will gather at 6 p.m. Thursday in Welaka to remember Haleigh. That vigil will be held at 216 Fourth Ave., the home of Annette Sykes, Haleigh's maternal grandmother.

Dear Haleigh,

It has been two years since you went missing!

I know you have family that love and miss you. My thoughts and prayers are with them and the emptiness they must feel in their hearts since you "disappeared."

I wish you could be found so you could be brought back home to those who loved you. If you were dumped in the St. Johns River, I doubt if you will be found. However, your presence will always be part of the St. Johns.

I think you are now in Heaven, Haleigh! You are in the loving care of God and now walk hand in hand with Jesus! You are safe and no one will ever hurt you again.

I think you are laughing, smiling and being friends with all of the other little children, like Caylee Anthony, Emma Thompson, Jonathan Foster, and the many other precious children that were murdered or died as a result of abuse.

Haleigh, you are a beautiful little girl with a gorgeous smile and a twinkle in your eyes that captured my heart two years ago!

Putnam, Surrounding Counties Get Certified in Recovering Abducted Children

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. - The call echoed across the parking lot. An 11-year-old boy had been abducted in Bradford County and the message blared from every officer's radio.


The abduction was a scenario made up as part of Child Abduction Response Team (CART) certification for law enforcement officers in our area.

Snipped: "Because we used CART, we were experts at CART when Haleigh went missing... our investigators were given the best tools to find Haleigh and that nothing was left undone," said noted PCSO Major Gary Bowling.

(WOFL FOX 35) - It has now been two years since Haleigh Cummings went missing. Investigators say she was kidnapped from her Satsuma home in Putnam County the night of February 9, 2009. She was 5-years-old at the time.

Haeligh's father, Ronald Cummings, was dating Misty Croslin at the time. Croslin says she put Haleigh to bed at around 7:30 at night, but when she went to check on her she says she was gone.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Two years ago Thursday, a 911 call was placed to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office saying 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings had vanished.

Family and friends of the girl who disappeared from her Satsuma home in February 2009 will gather at 6 p.m. Thursday in Welaka to remember Haleigh. That vigil will be held at 216 Fourth Ave., the home of Annette Sykes, Haleigh's maternal grandmother.

Haleigh will also be remembered at the regular Wednesday night service at the Glen St. Mary Baptist Church that Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, attends, WJXT-TV reported.
