Re: 48 Hours Mystery 4-16-11
Interesting article by Blink on Crime:
http://blinkoncrime.com/2011/04/17/cayleecasey-case-mock-trial-on-cbs-they-got-the-mock-part-right-cbs-footing-bill-for-richard-gabriel-defense-jury-consultant/
On Saturday evening, Central Broadcasting Service, the second major affiliate to pay Anthony family members for “licensing”, $20,000 for the 48 hours segments, aired what was labeled as a pseudo mock trial with a pseudo mock jury.
CBS 48 Hours also STATES THEY COMMISSIONED the focus group. Are we clear on that? CBS has outright admitted to contributing to the costs of the defense expenditures of Casey Anthony. That is a source of income to this defendant, period

Trying to catch up on all of the articles regarding the 48 Hours special. I still haven't watched it yet, but from what I've read it sounds as if it's even more disgusting than I had imagined. What the defense team and Caylee's grandparents have forgotten is that a toddler, a beautiful little 2 year old child was murdered and thrown out like trash. And they all know who did it. Yet they keep squeezing for more blood money, all of them. The jury will be appalled at Casey's obvious lies and behavior and her parents lame attempts at a cover-up. Caylee will be the shining star in the courtroom and justice will be served. I would give anything to see one blood relative of Caylee's sit on the side of justice in that courtroom, for Caylee.

Dropping by to say I feel that perhaps 48 Hours Mystery was mutiny by the defense against Casey. (One could only hope.....)
You may recall when Casey learned that prosecution had put the death penalty back ON the table, Casey learned the news and was heard saying ~ it was reported by a fellow inmate ~ Casey was with LPN’s and she was hissing “I’m pi$$ed! I’m pi$$ed!” over and over and over repeat repeat…….
The inmate said that Casey climbed up on a chair, jail staff unshackled Casey’s ankles and waist, and they placed Casey in a special concave bed and strapped her in, restraining her. Still all the while Casey hissing, “I’m pi$$ed!”
Never once did she cry, “I’m innocent!” No she hissed, “I’m pi$$ed!”
But do you think defense sold her up the river on 48 Hours? They said she lied about the nanny, they said she is guilty of SOMEthing, and they point the finger of blame for Caylee’s murder squarely at Casey herself when they entitled the show, “Only Casey Knows………”

Casey Anthony Jury Consultant Seen on 48 Hours Only Did “Focus Group” Which Acquitted Casey Anthony, Not A “Mock Trial” Which May Have Given A Different Result
4/18/11
I saw the 48 hours piece where they showcased Casey Anthony . They used a lot of early footage from a previous 48 hours before Caylee’s bones were discovered. The reason they most likely aired it again in my view, and just added a few elements like Linda Baden’s opinion and the focus group by Richard Gabriel, was simple – ratings and sweep season.
Sweep season is the time of year when shows and networks do everything in order to garner huge ratings. If they do get the ratings during April and May, they get top advertising dollar for their show. So in my view that is why viewers saw the show again.

Casey Anthony: ‘48 Hours Mystery’ makes news in a troubling way

CBS affiliate WKMG-Channel 6 last night took a behind-the-scenes look at its network’s “48 Hours Mystery” on the Casey Anthony case. There was more troubling information about how journalists inserted themselves into the legal process. In effect, “48 Hours Mystery” was making news rather than reporting it.
WKMG’s Mike DeForest highlighted that CBS said it did not pay defense consultant Richard Gabriel to guide a focus group that acquitted Anthony of first-degree murder. And Gabriel was not allowed to keep five hours of video in which panelists discussed the case, DeForest added.
“But Gabriel, who donates his services to Anthony’s defense team, was allowed to share with them [defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason] detailed results from the CBS focus group,” DeForest said.

I don't know if the defense sold Casey up the river, but it looks like LKB did. We don't know if she had permission from the defense to admit that Casey lied about the nanny. Of course, whether the defense admits it or not, it should be easy for prosecutors to convince the jury that the nanny story is a lie. I wonder if they will try to say Caylee's death was involuntary manslaughter or an accident. If I'm on a jury, I don't buy waiting three years until you are on trial to have your lawyers claim you lied to cover up an accidental death.

I wouldn't buy the accidental death story at this point either. It's too late for that. Had that been the case, her attorney would have brought that forth immediately but then there wouldn't have been a money train and fame. Baez is in this to make a name for himself, I don't believe for a minute he thinks he's going to save Casey's ass. He doesn't have his client's best interest at heart by any means. Too bad for you, Casey. You've been had.
