Hearing Being Held Friday Afternoon In Casey Case

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- At a hearing Friday afternoon in the case against Casey Anthony, Chief Judge Belvin Perry could decide whether prosecutors can have their own mental health experts examine Casey.

Judge Perry had to educate Baez on the First Amendment. What a joke.

Baez was not happy today. He seemed nervous. Judge Perry is awesomely fair!

Did Baez take one of his own mental health witnesses off his own list? I missed part of this, but I thought he did after the prosecution started to depo the witness...and Baez suddenly yanked the witness off his list so the pros had to stop depo-ing his witness (who is no longer a witness for the defense).

Yes, Dr. Weitz was dropped. That means no "state of mind" defense against the "consciousness of guilt" statement by HHJP.

That's what I got so far. I will have to rewatch the hearing as I missed much of it, darn it!

I'd sure like to see what was in that deposition for Baez to want to yank his own witness!

Now they're all in a private hearing - with Inmate Anthony.

I've only caught bits and pieces of the hearing and now I have to go to work for a couple hours. Baez was talking about preventing the media from covering jury selection and Judge Perry reminded him about the First Amendment and said this isn't Egypt or Libya. I got interrupted by a phone call, and then when I turned the sound back up, they were all headed into the jury room for a private discussion.

Casey Anthony and her defense team lost a key ruling today after a judge decided that pictures of heart-shaped stickers and Anthony's tattoo might be used at her trial.

Judge Belvin Perry's ruling means the evidence could be used at trial but it does not mean they are automatically in.

When the trial starts, the state will still have to go through the normal process of admitting evidence.

Perry also left open the possibility that defense attorney Jose Baez could argue again against using the evidence if he establishes the proper foundation for a legal argument.

Let's face it those "hearts" were Casey's signature...She put them everywhere...especially when she signed her name on letters, and weren't they even in her diary and her "doodles"?

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey's lawyers tried everything Friday to make sure the jury isn't picked in Orange County and the judge made some key rulings as another strategy to defend Casey Anthony may have fizzled out.

Casey Anthony walked into court just after 1:20pm wearing a gray and black striped, white, long-sleeve, button up shirt, with her hair pulled up and poofed in the front, but not in a bun. She sat down at the defense table with attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason.

Friday afternoon, the defense was shut down in an attempt to have its mental health experts tell Casey's story for her about why she kept Caylee's disappearance a secret for 31 days. All because, if they went through with it, the state would be able to have its experts examine Casey and would have relatively free reign in questioning her.

It was supposed to be a button up shirt, but KC being KC, forgot to button it up.

This sounds like a very old quote. Having a memory lapse I guess, what was the shocking findings?
