Ode to Eva

Post by Piper on Sun Jul 03, 2011 7:18 pm

Small fire in my kitchen tonight - thanks to Jose Baez and my new stove that I absolutely despise.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I've ruined one of my favorite stainless steel pans.

Who would ever have thought a potholder would be the death of me? Yes, that's a potholder permanently attached Sad

Oh Piper, eva will be so proud of you. She knows what a great cook you are, and even you can burn something.

She will be so happy. bounce

Hey, that pretty brunette is wearing my cowboy hat!!!

Eva, I'm dying here.......I almost had to call in a hot brigade of men in uniform. Eva, that potholder had images of grapes and red wine... now it's smelted to the bottom of my $60 pan (that piper scored for 17.99 at TJ Maxx)... I am in need of the Good Happy Grief Lady, I'm such a loser..

Sad

No . . . Piper, you are not a loser!

Try soaking your skillet in a small amount of water with lots of Cascade granules (not liquid). It removes burned on food; maybe it will remove a burned on pot holder. Soak it for several hours or overnight.

Who knows, your pan might be bright and shiny again. Then Piper will be Very Happy

Oh Piper, I hope Ann's suggestion will work for your expensive pot.

Let us know how it works.

You might try freezing it before trying to remove the potholder...It works for candles in glass...maybe it will work for this...One handy hint for all of us...get rid of potholders that contain polyester...stick to 100% cotton or wool...Silicone potholders were the rage there for a while, but I wouldn't set a burning hot pan on one...

Not sure but acetone might dissolve the burnt potholder...It's worth a try too...Good Luck..Keep us posted as to the outcome...

Piper, do what eva would do. Just keep using the frying pan until the potholder burns off naturally.

I'm happy to report that my overpriced stainless steel frying pan has not been the death of me afterall. My husband can tell his daughter (if he had one) that he saved a life today.

Between the Good Grief Lady, pot prayers from my friends and some serious soaking and scrubbing, my pan looks shiny and new!

Julie, the thought of putting the precious one on the grill and burning it off was first on hubby's list of ideas! roflao Laughing roflao

I still hate my new stove. It's a black glass cooktop and you cannot move a hot pan over to a cold surface or it will crack and ruin it. Maybe I should have just done that, it would have been the perfect excuse to replace it.
