Monday morning in a Dunklin County courtroom,Thomas Earl Marshall, attorney for Shawn Morgan, 43, of Senath, Mo., filed a motion for continuance of Morgan's preliminary hearing.

The motion was granted by Judge John C. Spielman, citing "good cause." A new date for the preliminary hearing was scheduled for Dec. 2, 2011, at 1 p.m.

Prelim waived in Morgan trial

During court proceedings on Friday morning, the preliminary hearing for Shawn Morgan, 43, of Senath, Mo., was waived and he was bound over to Division 1, according to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen P. Sokoloff.

Morgan's arraignment has been set for Dec. 14.

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) – The man accused of killing Senath 3-year-old Breeann Rodriguez, is set to appear in a Dunklin County Courtroom Wednesday morning.

According to the Dunklin County Prosecutor's Office, Shawn Morgan is set to appear in court Wednesday morning facing first degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with evidence, child kidnapping, and possession of child pornography.

Suspect enters plea of not guilty during today's arraignment hearing

SENATH, Mo. -- Senath firefighters responded to a structure fire this morning (Tuesday, Dec. 14) that turned out to be the home of alleged child murderer Shawn Morgan, 43.

According to Ken Johnson, of the Senath Fire Department, the fire occurred at Morgan's home on Ode Johnson Street at approximately 12:30 a.m., and when crews arrived, the structure was fully involved. Johnson said firefighters were on the scene until approximately 6 a.m.

"Thankfully the wind was out of the south and the houses on the east and west received no damage," Johnson said.

Court proceedings are set for 10 a.m., Feb. 8, 2012, for motions and to obtain trial setting date.

A stipulation was filed for a change of venue and approved by Judge Stephen Sharp. The venue will remain in Dunklin County but the jury will be selected and brought from Phelps County.

SENATH, MO (KFVS) - Senath firefighters received an early call this morning to a house fire on the southwest side of town.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department the fire was at a home on Ode Johnson St.

According to the Senath police chief, the fire is considered suspicious.

Suspected killer of Senath 3-year-old due in court Wednesday

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) – The man accused of killing Senath 3-year-old Breeann Rodriguez is set to appear in a Dunklin County courtroom Wednesday.

According to the Dunklin County Prosecutor's Office, Shawn Morgan is schedule to appear in court again on February 8 at 10am for a motions hearing.

Morgan pleaded not guilty in court on December 14 and his lawyers filed a change of venue request. The request was granted with stipulations, meaning the trial will still be in Dunklin County, but the jury will come from Phelps County.

If I have time, tomorrow I'm going to try to find a court docket where we can track this case. Some counties do not have an online availability but I think Missouri has it on a state level.

Shawn Morgan had a court appearance today in the Dunklin County Court House.

His trial is set for Monday, 12-10-12 with jury selection to begin Thursday, 12-6-12.

The trial will be in Dunklin County but the jury will be from Phelps County as a result of the change of venue with limitations granted in this case.

The Dunklin County Prosecutor, Stephen Sokoloff, announced Wednesday he will seek the death sentence against Morgan.

Trial set for Southeast Missouri man accused of toddler's murder

KENNETT, Mo. -- The Senath, Mo., man accused of murder in the death of a 3-year-old girl last year will face trial on Dec. 10.
Shawn Morgan, 43, is charged with the murder of BreeAnn Rodgriguez, who lived in his neighborhood at the time of her death.

Jurors will be selected in Phelps County, Mo,. on Dec. 6 and 7, according to Dunklin County Prosecutor Stephen P. Sokoloff.
