Missing woman still a ‘top priority’

Benefit is Saturday to help raise funds for search efforts.

FAIRFIELD — More than two months after 22-year-old Katelyn Markham was reported missing, there is still little to indicate what led to her disappearance.

The Fairfield Police Department has consulted the FBI, which has reviewed the case and provided information for the department to follow up on, but few leads have been determined.

FAIRFIELD, Ohio -- A group of complete strangers is spending their own time and money to find Katelyn Markham, the 22-year-old from Fairfield, who has already been missing for three months.

For the past three months, answers have been few and far between when it comes to Markham's disappearance, which makes an independently formed search crew more determined to find the missing Fairfield woman.

"It could be your child. Every time I see Dave Markham, (when) I see his face, I think of my children. He needs us out there," said resident Donna Metz.

Police still chasing tips on missing Ohio woman

FAIRFIELD, Ohio — The tips come in a trickle, instead of flooding in. The searchers go out in handfuls, instead of by the hundreds. The national TV show cameras are long gone.

Police and other people in this southwest Ohio city say they aren't giving up in their quest to find out what happened to a young woman who's been missing for more than three months. It's a baffling disappearance that at first frightened, and now frustrates, people in a northern Cincinnati suburb of some 43,000 people that is dotted with subdivisions and a "Village Green" center. Violent crime is rare here — the last murder was in 2008.

"Where is she?" asked Donna Metz, 35, who lives near Markham's home and has searched dozens of times. "It's like an alien came down from space and took her."

Official: Body found near Caesar Creek not missing Fairfield woman

WAYNE TWP. — Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims said a body was found Thursday morning in the woods near Caesar Creek State Park.

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - Fairfield Police Chief Michael Dickey sat down exclusively with FOX19 Friday afternoon, saying that the department is following up on new leads regarding missing 22-year-old Katelyn Markham, and has begun re-searching certain areas.

"Whether it takes 90 days or 900 days, we're not giving up on this case," Dickey said.

Search for missing woman hits 4-month mark

FAIRFIELD — Four months after Katelyn Markham went missing, those who know her continue to hold out hope she’ll come home safe.

Markham was last seen Aug. 13 at her Dorshire Drive townhouse. Her car, keys and purse were still at the residence, and her cell phone was turned off that night. Police haven’t recently received any tips or leads, but a detective is assigned to the case. Fairfield police Chief Mike Dickey said the department is working with the FBI on some “technical things” that are “mostly experimental.”

Group keeps missing woman on the forefront

FAIRFIELD — Caring, thoughtful, motivated and talented are just some of the words mentioned by friends and family describing Katelyn Markham.

More than 75 family, friends and concerned residents conducted a candlelight vigil Saturday evening, walking from the Fairfield Patterson Place shopping plaza on Patterson Drive to the city’s police and fire department memorial on Pleasant Avenue to encourage people not to forgot Markham. She was last seen Aug. 13 at her Dorshire Drive townhouse, but authorities say there was no evidence of a crime.

Vigil keeps hope alive for missing Fairfield woman

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - Several dozen friends and family of Katelyn Markham braved the chilly temperatures to hold a candle light vigil for the missing woman.

Katelyn was last seen by her boyfriend on Aug. 13, and investigators say there is no evidence of a crime.

The Saturday night vigil is just the latest in a series of events held to bring public attention to Katelyn disappearance and to keep hope alive among her family and friends. Mason Lenus says he expects Katelyn to come home. "The hope is that she will pop up. She's hopefully somewhere in hiatus right now and she'll come up out of nowhere," said Lenus.

Jeff Ruby Adds $25,000 To Reward in Missing Woman Case

A Cincinnati restaurateur is dramatically increasing the reward money for information leading to clues in the disappearance of missing Fairfield woman Katelyn Markham. Today, Jeff Ruby announced he is adding $25,000 to the reward pot... making the total reward amount $50,000.

Markham vanished from her Fairfield apartment last August. We are just days away from the six month anniversary. Markham was last at her apartment by her fiancee. After she vanished her car was still at her home along with her dog, purse and keys. Her cell phone was gone with the GPS locator turned off.

Despite several searches... some led by friends and even some led by a professional group brought in from Texas, there are still no signs of of the 22-year-old art student. Ruby was involved in a few of the searches and even opened his wallet to feed the volunteers.

FBI Profilers Review Missing Persons Case of Katelyn Markham

Fairfield police today confirmed that they are now using clues and recommendations of FBI profilers to try and find a woman missing since last August. 22-year old Katelyn Markham disappeared from her condo in that city-and her disappearance is a true mystery.
