U.S. man gets another 30 days in Aruba tourist case

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A U.S. businessman who has been jailed in Aruba for nearly three months as a suspect in the death of his traveling companion must remain in custody for at least 30 more days to give investigators more time to gather and evaluate evidence, a judge on the island ruled Friday.

"Our client is innocent and there has been a lot of investigation already," attorney Chris Lejuez said in an interview outside court. "There is no evidence, and his life is being destroyed."

Lejuez said that during the hearing prosecutors disclosed that a DNA test confirmed that blood found on a towel came from Gardner. But the attorney said that Giordano has maintained that she cut her toe on a rock while they were on a beach and used the towel to stop the bleeding.

Gary Giordano, Suspected in Robyn Gardner's Disappearance in Aruba, to Go Free

The only suspect in the disappearance of Robyn Gardner , who went missing in Aruba during a weeklong trip last August, will be a free man by Tuesday, according to one of his attorneys.

Gary Giordano's lawyer, Jose Baez, told ABC News that Giordano would be freed Tuesday night at 8 p.m. and could be home as early as Wednesday.

"Gary had a chance to speak, and the judge listened to him," Baez said. "He made a heartfelt plea -- explained the situation."

I believe in the power of prayer...and I hope and pray that the prosecution's appeal will be granted and that Giordano is not freed...I can't believe that Aruba is as blind as it appears when it comes to investigaing and justice...One disgrace should be enough!!!

Robyn Gardner's Family 'Disappointed' Aruba Suspect to Go Free

Just hours before Gary Giordano is set to be free from an Aruba jail, the family of missing Maryland woman Robyn Gardner has released a statement to ABC News saying they are disappointed at the lack of answers about how she disappeared.

"Needless to say, our family is very disappointed that even after all this time, we are no closer to finding out what happened to our Robyn," Kelly Reed, Gardner's cousin, told ABC News in a statement today. "We trust that the FBI and the Aruban authorities will continue their fervent efforts to investigate her disappearance."

Giordano, the lone suspect in Gardner's disappearance, is scheduled to be released at about 8 p.m. this evening and expected to leave the island immediately, before an appeals council can be convened to review the decision to free him.

Defiant and combative, an American businessman suspected in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba said Thursday that he had nothing to do with her disappearance.

Appearing on ABC's "Good Morning America," Gary Giordano defended his actions in the wake of Robyn Gardner's disappearance, criticized his former attorney and said the Aruban economy was driven by cocaine and human trafficking.

Does he have a 'rug' on the top of his head? It is not the same color as the sides of his hair in the 2nd video and in the 1st one, with the hat on, it doesn't look like he has that much hair under the hat.

Vanished In Aruba: Woman's Boyfriend Suspects Human Trafficking

(NEW YORK) -- The boyfriend of missing Maryland woman Robyn Gardner said Friday that he agreed with the man who is suspected in her disappearance that human traffickers may be involved.

"Human trafficking, yeah absolutely, that's something I've been thinking about the entire time, since day one," Richard Forester told ABC’s Good Morning America.

Forester spoke a day after Gary Giordano, the lone suspect in Gardner's disappearance, told GMA that the woman disappeared in an area that is known for activity by traffickers.

Forester thinks it might be possible that Giordano sold Robyn into human trafficking. I personally think the life insurance angle is more likely. Of course it could be possible that he wanted to cash in twice by selling her and cashing in on the accidental death policy once she's been missing long enough to be declared dead.

This case will be featured on Dateline tonight.
