Still No Sign Of Missing Lewis Co. Girl

The search continues for a three year old girl who went missing in Lewis County over the weekend.

Lewis County Sheriff Michael Gissy tells MetroNews Affiliate WAJR-FM in Clarksburg the effort is still considered a search and rescue mission. But, "We're running out of any leads. We're exhausting our efforts in the immediate area," he said on Monday afternoon, almost three days into the search.

WAJR-FM News Director Reuben Perdue was on the scene Monday afternoon and says representatives of the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were part of the search along with several area search and rescue teams and divers.

WESTON, W.Va. -- The search for a missing 3-year-old girl from Lewis County is in its fourth day.

Police say Aliayah Lunsford's mother reported her missing from their Bendale home Saturday morning.

WESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says efforts to find a 3-year-old Lewis County girl have been extraordinary.

The search for Aliayah Lunsford entered in its fourth day Tuesday. She vanished from her Bendale home Saturday.

A little after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 27 a press conference was held in regards to Aliayah Lunsford.

Aliayah was reported missing Saturday September 24. This is the fourth day of the search for the 3 year old girl.

Justice, I think we've been spoiled by the live coverage from some of the Orlando TV stations during the Anthony case/trial.

I guess when an event such as a missing child happens in a rural area, the nearby stations are not equipped like the TV stations in the larger metroplex areas.

I don't wish to criticize the WV media but I wish a TV station/newspaper in the state would send an investigative reporter to cover the story. Maybe CNN will send an investigative reporter to the area.

I've monitored this case off and on all day today and there have been no updates other than putting a new time stamp on a previous article.

It appears other main stream media sources in WV are using Associated Press or an article from an affiliated station.

The search for Aliayah Lunsford is continuing as though she is still alive. Volunteers are still on scene and searching the woods, while the police search is stepping up a little bit.

RE: Press Conference today

A reporter from WDTV did an interview with the Sheriff and the guy who headed up the Presser yesterday. This was a one on one interview.

The feed did not come on promptly so I did not see it all. No significant new info. This is what I got from the interview:

LE not comfortable with discussing investigation in a public forum. (In other words - my words, will not release specific info about the investigation)

Wants to keep investigation as pure as possible.

Specific investigation details not being disclosed at this time.

Per the Sheriff, new flyers and posters were distributed within the community yesterday.

They have a strong volunteer force. At this time, no plea for additional volunteers.

Will not disclose areas where search(s) are taking place. If someone should come upon a search area, they will know because it is clearly marked.

WDTV reporter said they will have more info during the noon newscast.
