Except what the TV had on it for a couple of minutes, we would not have known anything about this. There were no sirens or anything in our area. I know the ladies on the news @ 12pm said they wanted to be outside @ 2pm but I don't know if they heard anything or not.
Did any of you hear warning sirens or whistles in your area?

I didn't hear any sirens. I did hear the test on my car radio around 2 PM.

Everyone who lives in Lenoir and has a land line telephone received a recorded message last night that sirens and whistles would be sounded @ 2pm, but not to get alarmed as it was only a TEST.
Well, I got the message but heard nothing. Although we don't have a fire station close by, and all the big furniture factories in Lenoir have mostly closed down. There was a Broyhill Furniture, and a Drexel Furniture within 2 miles of where I live, but they stand empty now. Therefore, no whistles sounded.

sitemama, whoever sent out the phone call to the land lines messed up! No sirens and whistles were suppose to be heard. This alert was not intended to test sirens and whistles.
This alert was for TV and Radio only. I had the TV on InSession (a satellite station). At 1 p.m. CST, the alert came on with written content on the screen. It lasted for about a minute. Then regular programming resumed.
This is snipped from the article I linked up-thread (by Ann - Tx Yesterday at 7:24 am) :
