Obtaining Warrants: How Police Do It

By Max Resnik

December 29, 2011

Updated Dec 29, 2011 at 5:47 PM EST

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Prior to police entering a home for a search, they must obtain a warrant. That warrant can only be requested after police have first established probable cause.

Many readers and viewers have wondered why police did not simply search Michael Plumadore’s home based on their hunch that he was responsible for the disappearance of 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon.

The Rules For A Sex Offender

By Maureen Mespell

December 29, 2011

Updated Dec 29, 2011 at 6:56 PM EST

Local detectives say by no means is Indiana a safe haven for offenders.

Offenders who come to Indiana must stay on the registry for the longest time period possible.

So, if Michigan requires 15 years and Indiana requires 10, the offender must be on the registry for 15 years. The "whichever is longer" language ensures that Indiana is not a dumping ground for other states' offenders looking to shave time off their registration.

But there are also three categories of offenders in Indiana with different restrictions.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Could an Aliahna's Law be the silver lining in an otherwise devastating tragedy?

The details of any new, proposed legislation stemming from Aliahna's death could only be formulated following the release of further information regarding the 9-year-old's death. However, both federal and state officials say they are keeping a close eye on how the case unfolds.

Aliahna Lemmon: Is her suspected killer linked to similar crimes in the U.S.?

Isabelle Zehnder, Missing Persons Examiner
December 30, 2011

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (Isabelle Zehnder reporting) -- Officials are working to determine if a man suspected of killing and dismembering a 9-year-old Indiana girl two days before Christmas could be linked to similar crimes across the country.

Investigators said they're concerned that Michael Plumadore, 39, may have killed before due to the brutality of his crime and his apparent lack of remorse when he described Aliahna Lemmon's slaying to detectives, ABC's RTV6 reports.

More Centerville ties to slain Indiana girl

By Kyle Ocker - Daily Iowegian Daily Iowegian

CENTERVILLE — More Centerville ties to the story of nine-year-old Aliahna Lemmon, who was killed in Indiana Dec. 22, have been found since the Daily Iowegian first reported that the girl’s father held residency in the Centerville area.

snipped:

In a January 2010 case, Aliahna is listed as the victim of a sexual assault. Kurtis Allen Kennedy, age 19 at the time of the crime, was originally charged with second degree sexual abuse. He was later arraigned on a charge of indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Kennedy plead not guilty to the original charge on April 16, 2010. On July 9, 2010 he entered a guilty plea to the indecent contact with a child charge.

According to a complaint affidavit signed by Centerville Police Officer Jeremy Cole, during a Jan. 21 interview with Kennedy at his home, he confessed to his acts on Jan. 2.

RE: Kurtis Kennedy mentioned above, I found this at WS.

Okay, Kurtis Kennedy is indeed the younger brother of Aliahna's stepmother, (KKM married to biodad). If you find her MySpace account, he is listed in several pictures under "ppl in life".

Also at WS:

So I have to tell this, I was at work today and this man and his young son around 10 came into my work, and they started talking to me and I said where are you from, and he said Fort Wayne IN and i said omg, what do you think about the murder? Anyways, the little boy went to school with the girl, and his dad told me that the mom has been arrested, not sure how true this is.

The little boy was so upset, I could just see it in his eyes

Mobile home where girl died moved from park

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The mobile home Michael Plumadore was living in when he allegedly killed Aliahna last week was moved Friday.

You're only going to see this video here on wane.com. This is where Plumadore had been living. It was originally Lemmon's grandfather's trailer. The Allen County Chief Deputy Prosecutor says Plumadore's mobile home was moved by the county's request. I'm being told it will be used as evidence. Moving it to a different location allows them to preserve it.

I am at a loss for words for beautiful Ali. Her little nine years of life was pure living hell on this earth. Sad

My only solace is that it is over for her now. She's restfully at peace and she can never be harmed again. May you forever walk in sunshine, precious child. afro

I admit, this past year has been hard on me... and reading day after day of these horrible crimes against children........ it just makes it worse.

I don't know what's wrong with the world today.

I never thought I'd live in a world where kids can be so abused and be made to disappear........

and nothing happens.

I feel so strongly about these cases and the need for justice.

There's just too damn many of em these days.

ellejay at HM did a wonderful job writing the following article.

Aliahna Lemmon case: The snare in which she lived

Posted on January 2, 2012 by Valhall

We’ve already heard plenty of the trailer park near Ft. Wayne, Indiana that Aliahna was living in when Michael Plumadore, her “entrusted caretaker” brutally beat her to death with a brick and then dismembered her. The trailer park is a haven for Registered Sex Offenders (RSO) with 15 known RSOs living there. We also learned that her grandfather, the man who had owned the very trailer she was murdered at, had been a RSO as well. Hinky member ellejay has written the following to archive the tangled web of dysfunction and sexual deviants that moved in and out of little Aliahna’s life.

Aliahna Maroney Lemmon’s biological parents are Tarah Souders and Dawayne Maroney, but there were many other people that had an impact in her short life, as we’re beginning to see in the maze of marriages, hook-ups / break-ups and continuing intertwined friendships.

Let’s see if we can break it down from what we know —-so far.
