No, you didn't miss anything, lol. The point I was trying to make was, IF they are only checking reliable tips, how are they arriving at the tips being reliable? Hopefully not as they want us to believe, On somebodies word that the tip was given by an FBI agent without actually talking to that (FBI) person? Anybody could claim that and have them running in circles. There had to be more to the tip other than a sheet of paper and the words former FBI agent, ya know?

Otherwise it would be alarming (to me anyway) that they are willy nilly checking leads. I can't believe any dept would run an investigation that way.

The way that LE comes out & says they are checking out all "credible" leads, makes one wonder IF ALL leads are being checked out. What makes THIS lead any more "credible" than any of the others? Because some random woman, dressed in scrubs, TELLS them it came from an ex FBI informant?? I see exactly what you mean Jag. It really makes one think. (IMO) It still makes no sense to me, whatsoever, that LE wouldn't have found the man & questioned him. Either someone isn't telling the truth or LE really is just picking & choosing WHAT leads they feel are credible & feel like checking out.

I don't blame LE. Just wondering how they are now going about determining what is reliable. Based on the presser, just somebodies word they were former FBI. And that scares the crap out of me.

I also wonder how LE determines what tips are from reliable sources. It's one thing to act on a tip that might take an hour or less to check out, but even that can get expensive in a hurry. I would really hope that they make sure a tip is from a good source before they do things like spending three days draining a pond.
